We’re excited to announce the launch of History Companion, Scribenote’s first Companion tool. This powerful new Companion is named Sumi, and she's happy to help you quickly review and summarize a patient’s medical history! Whether you're seeing a new patient or just need a quick refresher before an upcoming appointment, History Companion will streamline the process, making it easier than ever to access and understand key details from patient records including previous labs, referral letters, and imaging reports. Sumi is available free for a limited time for Scribenote Pro users.
Scribenote Companion is a new range of tools for Scribenote Pro users that are designed to act as an assistant helping Veterinarians complete tasks more efficiently. Sumi is the first Companion to launch in Beta, with more companions to follow shortly. The Companion interface will appear on the left side of your Scribenote web app once you have enabled Companion Beta in your account preferences.
History Companion (Sumi) allows you to upload a patient’s medical records (PDFs, images, and documents) to generate concise summaries and retrieve important details. Sumi can then answer questions about the uploaded patient history.

The more specific you are with your questions, the more targeted Sumi can get with answers. Here are a few things you can ask her:
“@sumi what meds is the patient currently on?"
”@sumi is the patient up-to-date on their vaccines?”
”@sumi List all ear infections and treatments used and timeline”
”@sumi List all skin concerns and treatments and outcomes”
”@sumi List any current medications for ears or skin”
”@sumi List cytology results and date of testing”
You can even ask Sumi to create case summaries for referral cases like the following:
”@sumi Create a 300 word case summary for a referral dermatology appointment detailing all ear and skin concerns and medications used for Percy in his lifetime chronologically.”
Scribenote created History Companion to help vets quickly navigate complex, lengthy patient histories that often overwhelm and limit clinical effectiveness. With limited time between appointments and medical records often exceeding 50 pages from multiple sources, vets struggle to synthesize the information they need to provide informed care. Enabling Companion Beta: To enable History Companion (Sumi) Scribenote Pro users can go to their account preferences and enable “Companion Beta” by clicking the toggle on.
